We have had the AGM so no one is at risk of being on the Committee for another 12 months. So everyone can come back to training. The new Committee is almost the same as the old. President: Sarah Sydrych Vice President: Secretary: Linda Dening Treasurer: Eileen Moriarty Committee: Marion Whalan Committee: Around the AGM we had a wonderful day of training. The improvements to the two training yards by the Showgrounds have made a huge difference. Much better for the young dogs learning the ropes.

This is an interesting book for the Sheepdog obsessed. It is interviews with a range of well known Sheepdog workers about their methods. It discusses raising pups, starting trials and general training. There are many similarities in approach and many differences. Plenty of points to think about when starting training, especially "don't expect too much too soon". Easy to read style.
It was great to see so many Club members at the Dog Trail this weekend. The weather was freezing but the dogs were keen. Made it feel authentic and reach back in time to the Shepherds in the border country of England, Scotland and Wales were the dogs were first developed (maybe that is a bit romantic).Kym Jordan had his first run ever in the Encourage with his dog Molly. Morongla is a great place to start as it has a small novice and encourage ground, not as intimidating as the open ground for a first run.
Haven't heard all the results, except Tony Elliot won the Open and Charlie Cover won the Novice. Reminder that training and AGM are this Saturday. Just a reminder that the next training day , Ausgust 26th will also be our AGM and memberships are due.
The meeting will be at lunchtime, so if you want to have some input come along. Training starts as usual at 8.30am at the Bungendore Showground. Bring along something to share for morning tea and your lunch. Warm gear and a dog or two are also recommended. Our next training day will be held on 26 August 2017 at the Bungendore Show Grounds. 8.30am for setup.
Contact Linda Dening on [email protected] if you are attending or would like to come and see what the club offers. |
